Mascara 101

Oh mascara you baffle me. I've tried so many over the years just to try and find the perfect mascara that will lift, curl and add volume to my lashes. I have very long straight lashes and without a curler and some mascara I look like I have little buttons for eyes. Mascara really helps to open up the eyes and make you appear a lot more awake and I pretty much wear it every day if not I feel like I look naked without it. In today's post I will be running through a few of my favourite drugstore mascaras that have really impressed me.

Rimmel Day To Night Mascara This mascara is great for any girl that wants a quick transformation from day to night. It has a unique feature that changes how much product is on the brush which is great to quickly change your eye makeup. I often use the 'day' setting to apply mascara to the bottom lashes as I don't like to wear much product there and I apply a thick coat to the top lashes. I find that this mascara adds a good amount of curl to the lashes however I find after a couple of coats it does become quite clumpy which is something I try to avoid. This particular product is now starting to dry up as I can see that the mascara itself is a lot more solid than it was when I first bought it so I recommend you try this when you need a new mascara and use it quick to avoid it drying up. However all in all its a very good mascara and the option to change the brush is a great change to the typical highstreet mascara.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara Next up we have the a great mascara for lengthening those lashes. This product is similar to the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara which has sadly now been discontinued. It contains a Grow Lash Complex that claims to help grow you lashes and fibres to help bulk up you lashes. I find for me this mascara doesn't give enough curl, however this is understandble as it's aimed to be lengthening mascara. I found that this mascara doesn't clump and there was little fallout throughout the day so all in all it stayed on the lashes well. I would recommend this for any of you ladies that have lovely curly lashes already and just need something to lengthen and coat the lashes.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara A recent addition to the maybelline mascara collection is the Lash Sensational Mascara. All I can say is I LOVE IT! As you can see from the pictures the mascara wand is a lot smaller than the others and has a slight curve which helps you reach to the root of the lashes to really coat the mascara on them. I find this mascara really helps to hold a curl and doesn't clump and create those dreaded spider lashes. I can quickly create the perfect natural looking lashes which will last all day. I would say that this mascara is a perfect dupe for the new Benefit Roller Lash Mascara which I featured in my post last week. I would honestly recommend you try this if you haven't already and you definitely won't be dissapointed.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Rocking Curves Mascara Last but by no means least we have the Rimmel Scandaleyes Rocking Curves Mascara. This was by far my favourite mascara until the Maybelline Lash Sensational came along. It achieves a lovely curl and can be layered in order to create a bolder look. The only downside I found with this product was the brush was far too big for my eyes and I had to make sure I had a cotton bud handy in order to clean up any mascara that didn't quite get onto my lashes. If the brush was slightly smaller you would be able to get much better control over the application and really work it into the lashes. However it is a great long lasting mascara that adds the perfect amount of curl for a natural day look.

I hope you enjoyed having a look through my favourite mascaras! I would love it if you let me know you favourite mascaras, highstreet or high end as I would love to try out more mascaras to see how they compare!

  2. You need to try the Younique 3D Fiober Lash's crazy how amazing it is...It gives the appearance of false lashes, but with mascara! Here is a Modamod review where she tested it against Too Faced Cosmetics "Better than False Lashes" -
