Tips On Saving Money

Saving money is something I really struggle with and I tend to waste my money as soon as I get paid. As you may or may not know I am off to university in September and I wanted to make sure that I had some savings to move away with.  This has been a struggle for me and it is still something I am struggling with however I thought I would write a post about how I have been able to tighten my purse strings.

Savings Account I have my debit card and a separate savings account so I can physically move my money out of hands reach. Obviously I can still withdraw money from this account however its a much greater hassle rather than just paying by card at the till point.
Budget for the month I make sure before I even think about buying myself anything as I treat I write down- on my phone- how much I want to save that month, how much I have to spend on outgoings such as my bus pass and how much money I have to live on per week.
Pick Items as a Treat I feel like even though you are saving it is still important to treat yourself to the odd bit to make working worth it and rewardable. I tend to pick three things that I want to buy that month- mostly beauty related of course- and I try and buy them throughout the month to stop myself from buying everything all at once. I find if I buy everything all at once by the end of the month I tend to feel the need to do more shopping. Whereas if I stagger out my shopping list throughout the month I don't waste my money.
Have a Piggy Bank I have always had a piggy bank or money box to put all my change in at the end of the day and I find that this is a great way to quickly mount up change and savings. I find over the months the pennies mount up quickly and its quite surprising how much you can accumulate.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post about how I save money and hopefully learnt some tips yourselves!

  1. Ah I love reading posts on saving money, although I'm really good at saving money I find it so interesting to see other methods people use!

  2. I'm a nightmare at saving money! I've got a Savings account but I can get to it through my online banking so I've started giving money to my nanna to look after with strict instructions not to hand it back until a specific date.
I love piggy banks though. It really is surprising how much mounts up without you even thinking about it.
