The H&M Beauty Department

H&M are usually one of those high street brands that really get it right when it comes to new releases and collaborations. The brand have now joined the likes of Topshop and Primark to release their our beauty range and I couldn't resist but check it out.

I recently popped into my local H&M to have a look at their new beauty range and decided to pick up a few products to try out. I'm a fan of trying out new nail polishes so I picked up two of the shades on offer from H&M, a beautiful powder blue called 'Sky High' and a classic taupe called, 'U-taupe-ia'. The opaqueness of the nail polishes are great  and I only needed two coats to completely cover my nail. The polish dried quickly and lasted about 3 days before I felt like I needed to re-paint them. Overall, for the price, I thought the colour range and overall colour pay off was worth it. Another product I decided to buy was two single shadows. I debated buying one of the palettes in the collection, however I decided I get two single shadows to try out the product first. The high impact eye colours come in a variety a shades however I bought 'Gala Gown', a lovely metallic silver and 'Sharp as Mustard', a khaki-gold shade. The pigmentation is okay, not the best, but I didn't really expect much however the blend-ability of these shadows are great and don't go muddy or patchy on the eyelid. I don't particularly like the packaging as I feel the gold plastic look cheap however it does stand out from other high street make-up brands, like Topshop and Primark. The last product I bought was the colour essence eye cream. These products are similar to Mac paint pots and the Maybelline colour tattoo. I decided to pick up a neutral shade called 'Champers' to use as a base for shadows. The pigmentation again isn't as good at their Maybelline counterparts, however the consistency is great to blend and works well to add a wash of colour before applying powder shadows.

Overall the range does offer a wide selection of beauty products, however when comparing these products to other I have tried I would much prefer them over the H&M beauty range. Topshop are still my high street beauty winners I'm afraid.

Have you tried the new range?
