I've Been Converted

The Beauty Blender hype has been one beauty product that has seriously divided opinion across the beauty world. I originally didn’t understand the point of applying your base with what was essentially a sponge, and also why they were so blooming expensive. However, when Real Techniques released their version of the original beauty blender which was in my sort of price range I wanted to give it a go, and I must say, I’ve been converted.

I initially thought that the beauty blender would feel like those cheap, triangle makeup sponges that just absorbed all of your foundation before you could apply it to your face. However, after trying the Real Technique Miracle Complexion sponge my opinions completely changed. The sponge itself is very soft and squishy, but didn't soak up my foundation like thought it would. It applies a soft focused, even base which is perfect for me as I don't like to wear too much foundation.

The sponges are easy to use too, just hold it under running cold water before using it to apply your foundation. The addition of the water helps to give a dewy finish to the skin compared to when using a brush. I find that you don't get any streaking, like you would with a brush, nor does the sponge dilute the coverage of your foundation. I particularly love the pointed end of the sponge, as this allows you to use the sponge to blend concealer under the eyes with little effort at all.
The only problem I would say about this sponge, and the things that bothers me the most, is that after one use it looks incredibly dirty. Because of this I have two sponges now which I rotate with so one is always clean to use.
When looking at the price of the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge, I believe it is completely worth it and great value for money. If you're looking for a new and exciting way to perfect your base, or have just been curious about the whole beauty blender craze then definitely try out this sponge. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I hope you enjoyed reading about what I think about the Miracle Complexion Sponge. Let me know in the comments below whether you have tried it yourself and your thoughts.
