The New Mascara Love

Back in July I attended the Norwich Bloggers Networking event- read about it here- and was lucky enough to speak to amazing local brands and businesses. One of the businesses at the event was Jarrolds, an independent department store in Norwich, who offer a wide range of beauty brands all under one roof. After talking to the lovely ladies from Jarrolds we were allowed to take a couple of samples from a bowl in the middle of the table, a beauty bloggers dream right? I decided to pick up this Clinque High Impact Mascara as I had previously read something about it somewhere being great for holding a curl and making a big impact. Over the weeks since the event I have been trying out the sample and I have been loving it, just as much as my Maybelline Lash Sensational.
The Packaging
The monochrome style of this mascara definitely ticks all the boxes for me, it's simple yet chic. With the contrasting silver handle the mascara definitely feels that little bit special compared to their high street equivalents. Obviously this is the sample size however the full size offers 8 grams of product so the tube itself would be a lot larger. This mascara has spent most of the time in my makeup drawers so the lettering on the mascara has stayed put, in contrast to me putting it in a makeup up and them wearing away.

The Product
As you may already know I have particularly straight lashes that don't like to hold a curl. As I do with every mascara I prep my lashes by curling them with my Shu Uemera Eyelash curlers before application. The mascara formula itself at first was very liquidy however it dried out on the lashes very quickly and held the curl almost all day. The sleek consistency helps the plastic bristles to comb evenly throughout the lashes coating everyone in the product. This even application give the lashes length and volume, creating a very high impact look. I find this mascara does transfer on my bottom lashes however, so I have stuck to using my old faithful Lash Sensational on my bottom lashes.

The Verdict
I am usually put off high end mascaras as I feel drugstore mascaras can do just the same and in some cases this opinion still stands, however, I do love the fullness this mascara gives my lashes and even though it does transfer I don't find it too much hassle to apply a different mascara to define my bottom lashes. In the case of this Clinque Mascara I have been won over and I do in fact love it! For only £17.50 I feel Clinique are offering us ladies a great higher end, but not a rip off product which actually does what it promises. I will probably save this mascara for evening looks where I am looking for that extra definition and impact.

I hope you enjoyed reading my opinions of the Clinque High Impact Mascara. Let me know in the comments below you favourite high end or drugstore mascaras.
